The Katsuna Keyboard is optimized for readability, focus and dexterity. We designed a keyboard ideal for seniors; with bigger buttons, with a numpad for better number typing, selected colors optimized for visual disrupancies and removed the suggestion mechanism. The Katsuna keyboard is transforming the typing experience for the left handed users.
The keyboard has two different designs:
- Without grid to avoid presenting additional elements for increased focus on buttons
- With grid for users who favor having frames
With the Katsuna Contacts you can find a contact and then call, send message or edit with 3 discrete steps. Moreover it’s very easy to add new contacts or to navigate through a quick index. Katsuna Contacts is optimized for visual and dexterity problems by using the app with your preferred hand. Functionality to delete, import and export contacts is supported.
The Katsuna Launcher is the entry point for an accessible and enjoyable experience using your Android phone. With the launcher you can go through a list of applications; use them, unistall them or find information in 3 discrete steps. Moreover, you can place apps and widgets in the homescreen for a personalized experience.
Guide to download and setup your smartphone
This is a simple guide to install from Google Play and setup the Katsuna ecosystem of apps for seniors.
As a first step you need to install the Katsuna Launcher that will help you to control your homescreen, add apps shortcuts and widgets in addition to controlling your apps.
In order to set the Katsuna Launcher as the preferred launcher app(recommended!) you need to go to your: Apps -> Launcher. Then you press "Set Launcher".
As a final step you go to: Apps -> 3 dot menu -> Settings where you set your preferred "Usability Settings". Now to all Katsuna apps your accessibility profile is set and you are ready to start downloading the rest of Katsuna apps.
You can do it easily:
- go to: Apps -> More Apps and then install one after the other or
- go to the Katsuna page on Google Play
In order to find your contacts, call or send message, create and edit contacts install the Katsuna Contacts.
To open it, go to: Apps -> Contacts. Last step is to set the necessary permissions.
To see a list with your recent calls, call back or send message, search contacts, dial a new number and see call details, install the Katsuna Calls.
Next step is to go to Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> Default apps -> Phone app -> Calls (with the icon you see on the left).
To open it, go to: Apps -> Calls. Last step is to set the necessary permissions.
Go through a list with your last conversations, text or call back and delete conversations, install the Katsuna Messages.
Next step is to go to Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> Default apps -> SMS app -> Messages (with the icon you see on the left).
To open it, go to: Apps -> Messages. Last step is to set the necessary permissions
To type with safety and accessibility, install the Katsuna Keyboard.
In order to set the Katsuna Keyboard as the preferred launcher app(recommended!) you need to go to your: Apps -> Keyboard(with the icon you see on the left). Then you press "Enable" and switch on the "Katsuna IME". Then go to "Set" and "Change Keyboard" by selecting your language with the comment "Katsuna IME at the bottom"
Now anytime you will input text, you can do it with the Katsuna Keyboard.
To see the date & time, find an integrated calendar, check the weather now, for the next hours or the next days in your homescreen, install the Katsuna Homescreen Widget.
To set it up, go to your homescreen -> long press in the background -> Widgets -> drag and drop Time and Weather. Last step is to set the necessary permissions in the widget.
